The Department of Physical Sciences at FUADSI, is committed to delivering a rigorous, interdisciplinary education in the fundamental principles of physics, meteorology, and electronics. The Department focuses on understanding natural phenomena, analyzing physical processes, and applying scientific principles to technological innovation, environmental monitoring, and industrial problem-solving.
Students are trained in both theoretical and applied aspects of physics, electronics, and atmospheric sciences. The curriculum integrates experimental work, computational simulations, and field-based studies to ensure graduates possess strong analytical, observational, and practical competencies. This multidisciplinary approach equips students to contribute meaningfully to research, industry, environmental assessment, and technological advancement.
By fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation, the Department ensures that graduates are prepared to address contemporary scientific challenges, advance technological solutions, and engage in impactful research both locally and globally.
The Department believes that mastery of physical sciences underpins technological development and societal progress. Its philosophy centers on cultivating intellectual rigor, experimental dexterity, and ethical scientific practice, producing graduates capable of solving complex problems, conducting innovative research, and contributing to sustainable technological advancement.
UTME Entry: Candidates must possess at least five (5) credit passes in SSCE, NECO, or GCE O-Level examinations in not more than two sittings, including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and one other relevant subject (e.g., Further Mathematics, Geography, or Biology). UTME subject combination must include English Language, Mathematics, and Physics or Chemistry.
Direct Entry: Candidates with two (2) A-Level passes in Physics and Mathematics or relevant OND/HND with upper credit may be admitted into 200-level of the programme.
Graduates of the Department of Physical Sciences can pursue careers in research institutions, meteorological agencies, electronics and instrumentation industries, educational institutions, energy and environmental consultancy, aerospace, and technology development. They are also well-equipped for postgraduate studies in physics, electronics, meteorology, atmospheric sciences, applied mathematics, and related disciplines. Entrepreneurial opportunities exist in renewable energy technologies, instrumentation development, environmental monitoring, and scientific consultancy.
