Professor Wasiu Olayide Lawal is the Pioneer University Librarian of the Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies, Iragbiji (FUADSI), Osun State. A distinguished academic and administrator with over thirty-five years of service in library and information science, he brings a wealth of experience in academic librarianship, research support, and knowledge resource management.
He began his career in 1985 as a Library Assistant at Ogun State University and steadily rose through the ranks, serving in various capacities including Acting Library Officer, Librarian, Principal Librarian, Chief Cataloguer, Head of Cataloguing and Technical Services, Head of Reader Services, and Institute Librarian at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB). He also served as Visiting Senior Librarian and Acting University Librarian at Fountain University during his sabbatical, demonstrating versatility and leadership across institutions.
Professor Lawal earned a Diploma in Library Studies (1990) and a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (2001) from the University of Ibadan, a B.A. (Education) from Ogun State University (1997), and a Ph.D. in School Library and Media Technology from the University of Ibadan in 2019. His academic journey reflects a consistent dedication to advancing knowledge and professional excellence in the field.
Promoted to the rank of Professor of Library and Information Science in 2023, he has contributed significantly to teaching, research, and scholarship. His areas of expertise include user studies, electronic information resources, preservation and conservation, and special library services, particularly in enhancing access for visually-impaired users. He is also a Chartered Librarian (Member Council of Registered Librarian).

His vision is to establish a knowledge hub that fosters innovation, broadens access to information, and promotes collaboration at local, national, and international levels.
